Director’s Welcome to CTEP Teacher Candidates

U of T Blue runs in my blood! I am a third generation alumna of University of Toronto, with four U of T degrees, and years of Additional Qualification courses. Twelve years ago, after a career as a school educator, I landed back on campus as a professor at OISE. I continue to be amazed at the ways that the relationships that I have formed here at the university continue to richly weave my career and life, and I wish the same strength of community and deep learning for you.

The Concurrent Teacher Education Program at the University of Toronto is designed on principles of Equity, Diversity, and Social Justice, cohort-based learning, strong school-university partnerships, and is research-informed. As a teacher candidate, you will learn as a community of learners facilitated by researchers and instructors with real classroom experience. Each teacher candidate engages in hundreds of hours of field experiences in classrooms, providing an education in evidence-based pedagogies. Our graduates are recognized for their inquiry stance: they are reflective practitioners who work from deep disciplinary knowledge from their anchor subject undergraduate degrees.

Over the next two years, as we celebrate the final graduating classes from this program, the CTEP team will continue to be 100% committed to the quality of your education and your success as an educator.

A special welcome to the fifth-year teacher candidates as they enter their professional year! The entire CTEP team look forward to working and learning with you in our intellectually-stimulating and vibrant community.
