The Institute of Child Study received a total of $1 million from a variety of donors including the N.S. Robertson Charitable Foundation, the Norman and Marian Robertson Charitable Foundation and photographer/artist Edward Burtynsky to lead the way in adopting an inquiry-based approach for teacher education to improve children's learning in mathematics, science and environmental studies across Ontario. Making the grade: Should schools be failing kids?
Elizabeth Morley, the recently reappointed principal of the ICS Lab School participated in a panel discussion on the issue of Failing Kids on CBC Radio One's The Current (part one). The discussion focuses on practices of holding back students who haven't met the requirements and of "social promotion".
