Counselling Psychology (CP)

The MEd and EdD programs are designed for students interested in a variety of positions in education and in the community and in professional positions in agencies offering counselling and psychotherapy services. These programs can be pursued on a part-time or full-time basis. However, the EdD program requires one year of full-time study.

The CP Program comprises three fields:

1. Global Mental Health and Counselling Psychology NEW

Master of Education

This new internationally focused MEd in Global Mental Health and Counselling Psychology provides students with the cutting edge theory and practice of psychology and mental health.

2. Counselling and Psychotherapy

Master of Education

This program trains students, through intensive coursework and supervised practicum, to work as professional counsellors in a variety of applied settings, including educational, vocational, and mental health. The MEd in Counselling Psychology - Counselling and Psychotherapy, has received approval to be listed as a recognized education and training program in psychotherapy by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. Doctor of Education

Counsellor training in this degree emphasizes the role of the counsellor in the educational system, the acquisition of effective supervisory and consultative skills and the development and assessment of student counselling services in addition to the advanced study of counselling theory and practice.

3. Guidance and Counselling

Master of Education

The purpose of this degree is to help meet the need for well-prepared practitioners in the field of guidance and counselling in secondary schools.
