Program: PhD in School and Clinical Child Psychology Year: 2nd Year Personal Information: My name is Lauren Batho and I’m in my second year of the PhD program in School and Clinical Child Psychology. For my Master’s research, I examinied whether school-aged children’s ability to ignore distracting background speech while performing a serial recall task is related to their attentional ability and working memory capacity. I have supported my research with Canadian Graduate Scholarships from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and an Ontario Graduate Scholarship from the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. In the Doctoral program, I am excited to extend my research by looking at the ability of children with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) to ignore distracting background noise while completing academic and cognitive tasks. In addition to my academic interests, I also enjoy watching movies, camping, biking, and playing beach volleyball. |
