Who Writes the Test

If you are applying to or registered in Mathematics Intermediate Basic AQ course and do not have the equivalent of two full university degree credit courses in Mathematics you must write the Mathematics Proficiency Test. There are no exemptions.

NOTE: If you DO NOT write the test and DO NOT have two university level math credits that have been approved by OISE | Continuing & Professional Learning, then you will NOT meet the prerequisites for the Mathematics Intermediate Basic course and will not be accepted into the course and will not be eligible to participate in the course

The onus is on the candidate to decide if he/she will write the test.

DON'T KNOW if you have the equivalent of two full university degree credit courses in Mathematics?

  • ONCE YOU HAVE APPLIED TO THE MATH COURSE, submit the Mathematics Intermediate Basic Assessment Form along with your transcripts ASAP to OISE | Continuing & Professional Learning in person, by fax or by mail.
  • OISE | Continuing & Professional Learning will assess your transcripts and email you to confirm whether or not you have two full university degree credit courses in Math to qualify you to enroll in the Mathematics Intermediate Basic AQ course.
  • Please note: It takes OISE | Continuing & Professional Learning 5 business days to assess your transcripts - please submit your Mathematics Intermediate Assessment Form along with your transcripts well in advance to make sure they get assessed in time for you to register for the Mathematics Proficiency Test should you need to write it.

IF YOU HAVE the equivalent of two full university degree credit courses in Mathematics:

  • Submit application for the Mathematics Intermediate Basic course to OISE | Continuing & Professional Learning by the appropriate deadline.
  • Include university transcript(s) at the time of application so that The Office of Continuing & Professional Learning can assess your transcripts and verify whether or not they have met the academic prerequisite of having the equivalent of two full university degree credit courses in Mathematics.
