Your UTORid (along with your password) is your userid for your online course. It is required in order for you to login and be able to access your online course. If you are registered for an online course, please ensure that you have (and know) both your UTORid and a password. If you have been enrolled in a U of T course in the past, your UTORid will remain the same.
Associated with your UTORid are:
Library Barcode Number - this can be used to access U of T library resources online and at several of U of T's libraries. Information on how to obtain this number can be found below.
U of T email address - this email address will be used as a communication tool from within your blackboard course. More information can be found in the email section below.
To access your UTORid information login to your AQOAS profile.
After you login, there should be a link called "Check your UTORid/library barcode information" below your name.
Click on this link and it should display your UTORid, your Secret Activation Key (SAK) and your library barcode number. It will also display information on what to do next, which will be described in more detail below.
After obtaining your UTORid information, take note of the "Secret Activation Key" field. If there is something in there (a set of characters), you need to activate your UTORid. If the "Secret Activation Key" field is blank, your UTORid has already been activated in the past and a password has been chosen. If you don't remember it, here is information on how to reset it.
If the "Check your UTORid/library barcode information" is not showing in your AQOAS profile, please check back in a few days. UTORid information is added manually for all applicants and may take some time to process. If you still do not see the "Check your UTORid/library barcode information" and your course is starting soon, please send an email to aqutorid@utoronto.ca. It is very important that students (especially those with ONLINE courses) have an active and working UTORid BEFORE the start of their course.
Please follow the instructions closely. During the activation process, you will be asked to setup a U of T email account, as well as your UTORid password. Make sure that you follow the instructions and go through the entire process. The last screen should say "Your activation request has been accepted. Your UTORid should be active by the next day." Please note that activation may take about one business day to become fully active.
After obtaining your UTORid information, take note of the "Secret Activation Key" field.
If it is blank and no information appears, this means that your UTORid has already been activated at some point. This also means that a password was already chosen.
You can try to remember it here. Your password should be exactly 8 characters long and should be a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters or a mix of letters and numbers.
If you don't remember it, you may have the ability to reset it yourself here.
If the forgotten password questions were setup at the time of your UTORid activation, you just need to answer those questions correctly and you will have the ability to choose a new password.
If you get the "You are not eligible to use the password reset screens"message, send an email to aqutorid@utoronto.ca stating that you cannot reset your password.
Once you know your UTORid and password, go to the U of T Portal and click the "Log In to the Portal" button. Log in with your information. This is where you would go to access your online course.
After you successfully login, it might say that you are not enrolled in any courses. This is because your course will be made available on the first day of classes by your instructor. If classes have already began and your courses are still not showing up, email aqutorid@utoronto.ca
Your library barcode number will allow you to access the resources licensed to the University of Toronto Libraries via the Internet. When you connect to a licensed resource, you will be prompted to enter your barcode and student numbers as identification before access is granted. For more information, go here.
Your U of T email is part of your UTORid. It was chosen when you activated your UTORid. If you do not know what it is, login with your UTORid here. After logging in, you should see your U of T email address displayed.
