The Very Important Person
Developing Oral Language (Virtual Tour)
Transcript
Throughout the year, each student becomes the very important person, or the VIP. As part of their responsibilities as the VIP, they have to come up with a poster that shows themselves, as well as a little write up that includes some information about them. They also present this information to the class, in a small oral presentation. And at the beginning of the year, we talked about what a perfect presentation would look like, and what it would sound like, and we posted this up beside our VIP board, so that the students can refer to this when they are presenting their information about themselves.
Activity Objective
The goal of The Very Important Person: Developing Oral Language (Virtual Tour) is to provide students with practice using speaking skills during a formal presentation and help them develop their skills in writing an autobiography.
Quick Tips
Additional Comments:
- Brainstorm presentation tips with your class. This will provide them with helpful strategies when making an oral presentation.
- Use a class list to keep track of the V.I.P. Allow each student to be the V.I.P. for 1-2 weeks. Display posters in the classroom.
