MEDICAL EMERGENCY/FIRST AID
During regular office hours OISE staff trained as First Aid Attendants are available to assist with an injury (Please see list). After hours our Security staff are available. Please familiarize yourself with all names and locations.
For First Aid Assistance:
- Please contact your First Aid attendant immediately.
Otherwise:
- Contact OISE Security at 8-3636 or OISE Facilities at 8-0031 or 8-0787. They will in turn contact the nearest Fist Aid Attendant to assist you.
- In case of a major injury call (9)911 and ask someone to stay with you until EHS personnel arrive.

Also alert Security of the incident so that they can direct EHS personnel upon arrival. Security will also contact the nearest First Aid Attendant and the OISE Facilities Manager to assist.
First Aid Room
- OISE has a First Aid room located on the concourse level to address injuries incurred within the building. Room C-171.
- The room is fully stocked to meet the workplace safety regulation 1101 section 11 First Aid Room requirements.
- It is also equipped with a portable eye wash station and a portable burnfree first aid kit.
- During an injury a first-aider takes the portable (section 9 room requirements) first kit with her/him to the place of injury to assist.
- The First Aid room is to be inspected a minimum of every 3 months and restocked as required.

A First Aid inspection check list and combination order form for both the First Aid Room and (section 9) First Aid kit is to be completed and signed and any supply replacements to be ordered.
ACCIDENT REPORTING
The complete University of Toronto Accident Reporting Procedure can be found at http://www.ehs.utoronto.ca/resource/wc.htm.
Below is a summary of the key items, as well as providing specific communication protocols for within OISE.
1. All accidents, injuries, illnesses or property damage that occur on University of Toronto property or occur during the performance of employees’ duties MUST be reported.
2. Supervisors are responsible for initiating reports for employees, students and visitors.
3. Accidents or injuries to employees (full-time or part-time) must be reported to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) administrator within 24 hours of the incident.
4. Supervisors are to complete the online Workplace Accident/Incident Report for Employees with a copy hand-delivered to the Assistant to the CAO (5-198) or faxed to 416-926-4739.
5. For accidents or incidents relating to students and visitors, supervisors are to complete the Online Accident/Incident Report for Students, Contractors and Visitors with a copy hand-delivered to the Assistant to the CAO (8-158) or faxed to 416-926-4739.
PARKING GARAGE AND BEDFORD AVENUE LOT
There are emergency assistance (red) push buttons located throughout all levels of the Parking Garage which will connect you directly to the U of T Police.
There is a code blue station (tall red pole with bright blue light) located near the entrance to the Bedford Avenue parking lot, close to the north-west corner of the Faculty of Social Work building. In case of emergency, pushing the button will connect you directly to the U of T Police, and is available 24/7.
