How to Become a CIDEC Post-Doctoral Fellow or Visiting Scholar
Post-doctoral Fellows
Thank you for your interest in the Comparative, International and Development Education Centre (CIDEC). At the University of Toronto, each post-doc or visiting scholar needs a faculty host. In order to be affiliated with our centre, please first find a faculty member affiliated with CIDEC to sponsor your visit.
Faculty members interested in sponsoring a post-doctoral fellow, should be familiar with the University of Toronto's Guidelines for Engaging a Post-doctoral Fellow.
The University of Toronto has several policies related to post-doctoral fellows.
Once a post-doctoral fellow has secured funding of more than $27,500 plus the cost of health insurance, and has a faculty sponsor, the department or CIDEC will write a letter confirming the dates of appointment and access to labs and equipment.
Visiting Scholars
CIDE visiting scholars also must have a faculty member affiliated with CIDEC to sponsor your visit.
There are no official University of Toronto policies for visiting scholars, however, visiting scholars are expected to have the necessary health insurance to cover their health expenses while they are visiting the University of Toronto.
OISE has recently created a new Visiting Scholar program for Distinguished Speakers, Scholars in Residence (with scholars participating in the OISE community for periods of 1 week to 6 months), and two-day visits. For more information, please see OISE's Visiting Scholar Program.
