Transforming Canada-China Educational Cooperation: Significant Legacies and Future Challenges

This conference will bring together leaders and scholars involved in cooperative linkages between Chinese and Canadian universities across the fields of agriculture, education, engineering, environment, health, management and minority cultures between 1982 and the early 21st century. Keynote speakers will analyse the long-term contribution of these projects, which were supported by the Canadian International Development Agency and spanned a dynamic and important period in the socio-economic development of China as well as Canada. It is our hope that the lessons and legacy of these projects may enrich and stimulate current cooperation between universities in Canada and China and we welcome   scholars in both countries who are now engaged in collaboration to submit papers. Topics could include current synergies in particular fields of knowledge in the two countries, current modalities or experiences of cooperation, regional dynamics in exchange between the two countries, emerging challenges and other relevant themes. The conference has arisen from a SSHRC-supported project on the same theme, and some background literature is available on the project website.
