Comparative and International Education Organizations

Association Francophone d'Education Comparée (AFEC). Association of the French speaking International and Comparative Educators (In French). Founded in 1973.

Australian and New Zealand Comparative and International Education Society (ANZCIES) promotes the scholarly study of education in its widest sense, including global, regional, national, local and community policies, processes, and practices, and the social and cultural contexts in which education occurs. Founded in 1972.

British Association for International and Comparative Education (BAICE) promoting teaching, research, policy, and development in all aspects of international and comparative education. It is the British affiliate of the World Council of Comparative Education Societies but membership is open to all interested in international and comparative education, regardless of nationality or institutional affiliation. BAICE produces the journal Compare.

Comparative and International Education Society of Canada (CIESC) is the Canadian counterpart of CIES. The purposes of the Society are to encourage and promote comparative and international studies in Canadian education, promote teaching, research, publication, stimulating inter-university co-operation, organizing meetings in the field in co-operation with other International Education Societies, and with governmental and private agencies in order to further common objective.

Comparative Education Society in Europe (CESE).This is an umbrella organization of the national European CIE societies, which primarily organizes annual CIE conferences in the European continent. Comparative Education Society of Hong Kong (CESHK) founded in 1989. CESHK provides a forum for the exchange of views, development of partnerships, and shaping of new initiatives amongst educator in the Asia and Pacific region. The society is a visible member of the World Council of Comparative Education Societies. The annual conference, seminars/workshops, and publication, the Comparative Ed Bulletin, are amongst the CESHK site.

Dutch Speaking Society for International Comparative Studies (DSSICS), which in Dutch is : Nederlandstalig Genootschap voor Vergelijkende Studie van Opvoeding en Onderwijs, NGVO) was established by the founding fathers of comparative education Prof. Dr. C. de Keyser (Louvain, Flanders) en Prof. Dr. E. Velema ( Nijmegen, The Netherlands) at a meeting in Louvain.  Representing both Dutch and Flemish educational institutions.  Established in 1973.

International Comparative Studies in Education (ICSE). This is not an organization. The site provides descriptions of Selected Large- Scale Assessments and Case Studies.

World Council of Comparative Education Societies (WCCES). Established in 1970. The worldwide umbrella organization of CIE societies. Goals include: (a) to promote the study of comparative and international education throughout the world and enhance the academic status of this field and (b) to bring comparative education to bear on the major educational problems of the day by fostering co-operative action by specialists from different parts of the world.
