Clive Beck, Professor Emeritus

Clive Beck is Professor in the Centre for Teacher Education & Development and the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. At OISE he teaches and supervises in the graduate program, teaches in the Midtown and MT elementary preservice programs, and supervises practice teaching.
Clive has served as Chair of Graduate Studies at OISE and is past-president of the American Philosophy of Education Society. His books include Educational Philosophy and Theory; Better Schools; Learning Values in Adulthood; Innovations in Teacher Education; Priorities in Teacher Education; and Teaching in a Nutshell (forthcoming, 2011) (the last 3 co-authored with Clare Kosnik).
Clive is currently principal investigator (with Clare) of the 5-year research project Key Components of Learning to Teach Literacy funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. A new 4-year SSHRC project Teacher Change and Growth has been funded and will begin in 2011.
