Writing Support

You have access to two very helpful resource centres for assistance with their various writing tasks.  One of these is called the OISE Student Success Centre and is located here at OISE.  The other resource is offered by the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) and is called the English Language and Writing Support Centre. 


OISE Student Success Centre (OSSC)

The OISE Student Success Centre (OSSC) can help you to improve your presentations, english language proficiency, french language proficiency, they can give insights into the culture of K-12 schools in Canada, math concept development, and strategies for success in teacher preparation and graduate programs.  In the area of academic writing more specifically, OSSC provides help via face-to-face, email or phone appointments, as well as through workshops in the following areas:

  • Academic Writing: planning, organizing, writing and revising academic papers such as essays, MRPs, theses, dissertations, manuscripts for publication, funding applications, lesson plans, portfolios, personal journal entries, etc.
  • English Language Proficiency Improvement: grammar, oral communication, listening, reading, pronunciation, etc.

SGS English Language and Writing Support Centre (ELWS)

The English Language and Writing Support Centre (ELWS) offers five types of support designed to target the needs of both native and non-native speakers of English: non-credit courses, single-session workshops, individual writing consultations, writing intensives, and a list of additional resources for academic writing and speaking.
