Research Overview

Dr. Rina Cohen is an Associate Professor with the Department of Curriculum, Teaching, and Learning and the Centre for Science, Mathematics & Technology Education. Her research interests focus on mathematics education, holistic education, overcoming mathematics anxiety, rebuilding math knowledge and holistic curriculum approaches in the math classroom.

Dr. Cohen has seen her work on math education and anxiety published in books and refereed journals, has served on the editorial board of the Canadian Journal for Research in Science, Mathematics and Technology Education, and is an OISE representative to the Mathematics Forum of the Fields Institute for Mathematical Sciences.

Dr. Cohen has been involved in the following activiti

• March 28, 2009. Invited Presentation in Fields Mathematic Education Forum Meeting, Toronto, Presentation on Primary Teachers’ Attitudes toward Mathematics and Mathematics Teaching, as part of the panel on Early Numeracy.
• December 2004 – March 2006: Served on the Selection Panel for the Ontario Graduate Scholarships (OGS) Board.
• Sept. 2000 – January 2006: Served on the editorial board of the Canadian Journal for Research in Science, Mathematics and Technology Education.
• 2001-2009: An OISE/UT representative in the Mathematics Education Forum of the Fields Institute for Mathematical Sciences in U. of T.
