Her research interests focus on, anti-oppression education in teacher education and school settings; dialogic inquiry; arts education and social change; and music education. She is a member of the CMERC Alternative Pedagogies research interest group. The purpose of this group is research related to alternatives to the traditional pedagogies of the rehearsal model or the master/student model of music education. Her music teaching focuses on how music education can work as a catalyst to inspire social awareness, critique and action. She is on the editorial team of an upcoming book: Envisioning and Enacting Social Justice in Music Education. Leslie's work at OISE is informed by 15 years of as a arts educator in schools. Leslie sits on the University of Toronto Arts Council. Leading team from OISE working with three elementary schools to develop, support, research and document “best practices” in anti-oppression work. • Ministry of Education Arts Document Review: Providing ongoing general feedback for the music sections on 2 occasions and performed the anti-discriminatory/bias check for all sections. (2007-2009) • Ministry of Education, Literacy Gains Project, May 2009 consultant. • Leading curriculum development work with UTS, special emphasis music department. (2006-present). • Assistant Director, Interprovincial Music Camp/The Jazz Camp/Camp Rock/Musical Theatre, Parry Sound. (1988-2009).
