Writing Support
OISE Student Services Writing Clinic:
If you're having difficulty with academic writing, Student Services offers a Writing Clinic. The clinic assists with academic writing through one-on-one conferences with students. It also provides support for international students with their English language proficiency. Clinic advisors will offer guidance with paper structure, content, and grammar, in addition to help with comprehensive exams, class presentations, submissions for publication, and conference abstracts.
Student Services also acts as a liaison between the student body and the faculty. We work in co-operation with the Student Teachers' Union (STU), the Graduate Students' Association (GSA), and the International Students' Association (ISA) to coordinate many events and provide much needed services.

School of Graduate Studies, Office of English Language and Writing Support (ELWS)
The Office of English Language and Writing Support offers four types of instruction designed to target the needs of both native and non-native speakers of English: non-credit courses, single-session workshops, individual writing consultations, and website resources. All of our programs are free. While the workshops function on a drop-in basis, consultations require an appointment, and courses require registration.

Annual Review
The Annual Review is designed to be used as a monitoring mechanism for all thesis-track students; M.A., Ed.D. and Ph.D. The form used in the annual review is designed to be downloaded by each student, filled in on the computer, then printed and brought to the thesis supervisor (in the case of M.A. students) or to the annual meeting of the thesis committee (in the case of Ed.D. and Ph.D. students).
The form consists of three pages. The student should complete pages one and two, which lists student information, status of coursework, and status of thesis research. Page 3 is to be completed by the supervisor following the committee meeting. It contains the information that is required by the University doctoral monitoring policy; -a summary of the meeting, a record of the advice given to the student, and a recommendation by the committee that the student is or is not recommended for formal review. It must be signed by the supervisor and also by the student to indicate that he or she has met with the committee and discussed the contents of page 3 of the form. The form should be photocopied. The original is to be given to the graduate studies liaison for recording on ROSI and filing, and a copy given to the student. The supervisor may also want to keep and file a copy.
