Centre for Urban Schooling

Welcome!

The Centre for Urban Schooling (CUS) is dedicated to improving the quality of the teaching and learning experiences available to children and youth living in underserved urban communities. Established in 2005, at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, CUS carries out academic and contracted research, offers educational programs and professional development opportunities, and supports students, teachers, schools, parents and district boards in the development of school reform initiatives that have a clear focus on equity for all students. Read our Mission Statement.

We welcome Dr. Lance McCready to the position of Director at the Centre for Urban Schooling. We have already worked very closely with Lance over the last six years and are thrilled that he will be providing academic and intellectual leadership to the on-going work and development of the Centre for Urban Schooling in the years to come.  We would also like to welcome Professor Joseph Flessa to the Centre for Urban Schoolilng as Acting Director for the 2012-2013 academic year, as Professor McCready will be on sabbatical for the 2012-2013 academic year.
