Email Download
Save a copy or Move e-mail messages currently in your FirstClass Mailbox.
FirstClass/OISEnet is no longer used as an active email client or for conferences. However, it is possible to download message from FirstClass onto your computer, into your own email program or a web based email account.
These limited options are still available to users after the August 1st deadline.
Before beginning, please take the time to "clean up" your FirstClass mailbox by deleting any extra messages or folders that are no longer required.
Save a text copy of your Messages
Recommended for:
- All users
This process will save a copy of the contents of your messages onto your personal computer. It can save multiple messages at once, but will not save Sent messages or file attachments.

Save your Address Book Contact information
Recommended for:
- All users, specifically targeting current Faculty and Staff
You have the ability to save personal contact information in your FirstClass Address Book. After saving your contacts, they can be copied into the Contacts section in Outlook or your Address Book in Entourage. Personal Outlook Contacts are available for use with Outlook Web Access.

Windows/PC users: Configure Outlook to connect to your OISEnet account
Recommended for:
- Current Faculty and Staff
Faculty and Staff can move FirstClass messages into the new email system using the Outlook client.

Apple/MAC users: Configure Entourage to connect to your OISEnet account
Recommended for:
- Current Faculty and Staff
Faculty and Staff can move FirstClass messages into the new email system using the Entourage client.
The Entourage - Mac section has all the information you need.
OISE Alumni or Gmail users
Recommended for:
- Alumni or anyone who uses Gmail.
UofT Alumni have access to a permanent Alumni email account that uses the gmail system. If you want a new account, or already have an Alumni or gmail account, you can move your FirstClass Mailbox messages into your other account.
The Alumni - gmail section has all the information you need.
All other users with an external email account or mail program
Recommended for:
- All Other Users. (Students, retired Faculty/Staff)
Most email clients and web-based email account give you the ability to connect to a mail server using POP authentication. Configure your email account by using the OISEnet/FirstClass POP server information to download and move your FirstClass Mailbox messages into your other email account. Some example of email programs that you can use are Outlook Express, Mac Mail or Vista Mail. Example of web-based email accounts are Gmail, Windows Live Mail, Hotmail.
