Faculty & Staff E-mail Migration

If you are aware of your current system, please choose your configuration:

I have an Apple/Macintosh computer - view the Apple/MAC instructions.

I have a Windows XP computer with Office 2003 - view the Install MS Outlook 2007 instructions.

I have a Windows XP computer with Office 2007 - view the Configure Outlook 2007 instructions.

If you have a PC (Windows) computer, you may or may not know if you already have an e-mail program installed on your computer or which version of Windows you have. Most (PC) users at OISE will have Windows XP and either have Outlook 2003 or no Outlook at all.

What version of Windows do I have?

Using System Properties to determine the version of Windows installed on your computer:
Applies to: Windows 2000, Windows XP

1. Right click My Computer and select Properties. (My Computer can be found on your desktop, or the Start menu)

Windows 2000 is NOT supported by Exchange clients.
If you have a Windows 2000 computer, please contact the CCP to find out how to upgrade to Windows XP. Please included your computer's asset number.

What version of Outlook do I have?

You can determine what version of Outlook you may or may not have already installed on your computer by clicking on the "Start" button, then "All Programs" and then "Microsoft Office".

If you have a menu item that says "Microsoft Office Outlook 2003" and looks like this:

Then you have Outlook 2003 (most common for OISE Faculty & Staff). Please complete the Outlook 2007 upgrade instructions. You will be upgraded to the latest Outlook 2007 client.

If there is a menu item that says "Microsoft Office Outlook 2007" and looks like this:

You have the latest version of Outlook. Please follow the Outlook 2007 configuration instructions.

If you do not have any outlook icon, or are unsure about what email client to use, please follow the Install Outlook 2007 instructions. You will be installing the latest Outlook 2007 client.

If you do not want to use any of the above supported email clients, please consult the CNS migration page on unsupported IMAP client configuration.
