3- Redirect your OISEnet Email Address

Faculty & Staff Email Migration

This is the final required step in the OISE e-mail migration process.

Note to users who have just completed the UTORmail migration within the past hour:

If you had previously enabled the UTORid forwarding setting to your OISEnet account, you will need to wait 1 hour before proceeding at this point. The UTORid forwarding setting is automatically updated every hour, on the hour.

It has been more than 1 hour since I clicked on the "Migrate" button in Step #1.
Continue below.

Create Redirect rule in First Class

Now that your new UTORexchange email account is functioning, you need to redirect (forward) your email that would normally be delivered to the OISEnet email server.

1. Log into your FirstClass client (using your usual OISEnet account information)

I have been able to log in to the First Class client on my computer (continue).

I do not have access to a FirstClass client - I am using the OISEnet Web Access.
Follow the: FirstClass Web Access directions.

2. Click on your "MailBox"

3. Select "Collaborate" at the top, and choose "Rules..." from the pull-down menu

4. Delete any/all existing rules that you may have set up for email messages

(Note: your existing rules are no longer required, as FirstClass will not be processing your email anymore)

5. Select "New Advanced Rule"

6. Under “If:” select “Always”, under “Then:” select “Redirect” and type your @utoronto.ca email address beside “to”.  Click on “Save”.

Yes, I have created the 'redirect' advanced rule in FirstClass using my @utoronto.ca address.

No, I don't know what my UTORmail/UTORexchange email address is?
When you login to the UTORid information page, it will indicate your @utoronto.ca email address.

7. Compose a new email message and send a test message to your OISEnet email address.  Please type in your entire OISEnet address (firstinitialLastname@OISE.utoronto.ca)

8. Log into your Outlook Web Access, and verify that you have received your test message

Yes, my test message to my OISE address was successful. Continue below.

My test message did not arrive in my Outlook Web Access.
        - It may take a few minutes for your message to arrive.  Wait a few moments and check again.
        - Try sending a test message to your OISEnet account with an external e-mail (gmail, hotmail).

I received 2 copies of the test message.

        - This will be fixed in the next step, please continue.

My test message keeps repeating itself in a continuous loop.
        - Delete your redirect rule, call the ITS helpdesk: 416-978-HELP, press 4 (incident #154449).

9.  Return to your FirstClass client, and modify your rule (Collaborate", "Rules...", and double-click on your "Advanced Rule").  Click the 2nd Plus Sign on the right hand side.  From the new dropdown menu, select "Delete silently," and then click the "Save" button.  Your finished rule should look like this:

Yes, I have I have amended my rule to include 'delete silently'.

note: the delete portion of the rule is necessary to prevent the 2nd copy of your email messages from filling up your FirstClass mailbox, since it will no longer be necessary to login to FirstClass anymore.

10. Close out of FirstClass.

11. Please contact the CCP (OISE Client Care Portal) and indicate you have completed your FirstClass redirect.  The Dean's Office recommends that OISE users associate their @oise email address with an alias to their UTORexchange account.  This will give you the ability to send emails as your @oise address.

Tip: You can log in to FirstClass and view/forward any old messages still in your FirstClass mailbox at anytime.
All new email sent to your OISE address will now go to Exchange (Outlook/Entourage).

I have completed the OISE migration.

All of my email addressed to either my "@oise.utoronto.ca" address or my "@utoronto.ca" address is received in my Outlook 2007 (or Entourage) UTORexchange account.

Please consult the optional step #4: Move your data from FirstClass section for additional options regarding your FirstClass/OISEnet account.

What happens to FirstClass after August 2010?

First Class OISEnet will no longer be available as an active eCommunication service after August 1, 2010. An archive of the data (conferences, inbox, files) will remain available to users for reference only for a period of one year. You will only be able to access the First Class content to save as a local file to your computer; no email communication, forwarding or new file upload will be available. This access will be available as for reference purposes only until First Class is fully decommissioned next year.
