Save Messages
Email Migration - Move FirstClass Data (Optional)
This process will allow a user to save a copy of your messages (including sent items) to your hard drive. This will a create separate folder for each message, and will include a text file version of the messages. This process could take anywhere from 5 minutes if you have a standard size mailbox, to 1/2 hour depending on how many messages, attachments and sub-folders you may have.
I am using FirstClass Version 8.3 or higher.
Not sure what version you have? Here is how to check. Log into FirstClass on your computer. PC users click on "Help" in the top menu and then "About FirstClass Client". MAC users click on "FirstClass" in the top menu and then "About". If you have version 8.326, 9.002 or 9.104 (as shown below), you are ready to go.

If you do not have a version 8.3 or higher, please close out of FirstClass. PC/Windows users Click Here to download the latest version. Apple/Mac users Click Here. Once downloaded, run/install the file. This upgrade process will not change any of your FirstClass settings, the interface will just look slightly different.
- Log in to your FirstClass client.
- Select all messages in your mailbox, or a specific sub-folder.
- Then choose "Export Documents" from the File menu.
- You will be prompted to specify a local folder on your computer in which to save the messages. A separate folder will be created for each message you are exporting.
- Inside each folder will be an ".RTF" ".TXT" and ".XML" version of the message.
Saved messages will be within separate folders named "Sender;Subject;date".
The folders will contain text files the message. This collection of folders and text files are available to you by browsing your hard drive, or by doing a search for the text contained in the file.
