E-mail Migration - deadline has passed

Few options still available for former OISEnet/FirstClass users

 

 


Email migration has been an on-going process for the past 2 years. 
As of August 1st 2010, some functions of the Email Migration may no longer be available.

Please review the main Migration Headquarters for the most up to date information after the August deadline.


 

 

 

 

 

Faculty & Staff - migration process overview:

E-mail Migration - full detailed instructions for current Faculty and Staff
"I am Staff or Faculty who needs to get connected with the new UTORexchange."

This process has 3 required steps:

  1. Setup your new UTORexchange account by migrating your UTORmail account
  2. Install a new e-mail client program on your computer
    - Configure or installOutlook 2007 for Windows/PC users
    - Configure Entourage 2008 for Apple/Mac users
  3. Redirect your OISEnet e-mails to your new UTORexchange account.
  4. Move your old data from FirstClass to your new account (optional)
    - Copy a few messages
    - Copy your contacts/address book
    - Move your FirstClass Mailbox messages
       -  Move any sub-folder messages you may have in FirstClass
    - Save your FirstClass messages as a text file onto your computer
  5. Learn about your new e-mail program (optional)

 

Students - migration process overview:

"I am a Student who needs to get connected with the new UTORmail or verify my settings."

This process has 2 required steps:

  1. Setup/verify your UTORid status
  2. Create an Auto-reply in FirstClass
  3. Move or save your old FirstClass messages (optional)

 

 

Departmental email accounts (administrative / non-personal) - migration process overview:

"I am a Staff or Faculty member who manages or is responsible for a non-personal administrative email account on the OISEnet/FirstClass system (example: department@oise.utoronto.ca)"

This process has 2 required steps:

  1. Create a letter on OISE letterhead.
  2. Contact the Client Care Portal

 

 

Retired Faculty & Staff - migration process overview:

"I am a retired OISE Faculty member, or retired OISE staff member who wants to know the options available to me."

This process has 2 required steps:

  1. Create/verify your UTORid and your UTORmail account (@utoronto.ca)
  2. Redirect (forward) your FirstClass (@oise) address to your UTORmail (@utoronto.ca)
  3. Move or save your old FirstClass messages (optional)

 

Alumni - migration process overview:

"I am an OISE Alumni who wants to know the options available to me."

This process has 2 required steps:

  1. Create an Alumni gmail account from the UofT Alumni Office
  2. Create and Auto-reply in FirstClass
  3. Move or save your old FirstClass messages (optional)

 

New Faculty & Staff - migration process overview:

"I am a new Staff or Faculty hire who needs to get connected with the new UTORexchange."

  1. Setup your new UTORexchange account by migrating your UTORmail account.
  2. OISE staff and faculty are encouraged to include contact information, including an OISE URL, and the OISE logo, in their signature file. Instructions on how to add the logo file are available on the EC web site: http://www.oise.utoronto.ca/ec/Services/Self_Help/Outlook/index.html#signature_logo. Contact the Client Care Portal if you need assistance.
