Migration Information for OISE's Technical Changes
As of August 1, 2010: OISENet is no longer available
After almost 2 years of transition time, all active OISENet (First Class) services are now discontinued, including: email, conferences and personal webspace. You may reference your address book, old emails and conference messages for approximately 1 year, but you may no longer actively use the system.
A few things you may still need to do are:
1. Access your old FirstClass e-mail messages and contacts: Copy the info you need.
Faculty and Staff may continue to login to OISEnet/FirstClass to reference and download old email messages, file attachments and contact information. If emails being sent to your @oise address are not being redirected to your @utoronto.ca account, please contact the Client Care Portal.
Students no longer have access to an @oise email address. All Student must ensure that their UTORmail accounts are in order. Full instructions are available at the student e-mail services section of our website.
If you had a generic @oise email account (e.g. administrative, academic or research group) - please contact the Client Care Portal for assistance.
2. Don't Lose Information: Save OISENet conference information.
If you had an OISEnet Conference for your course or group, the Migration Headquarters has information to help you transition to the new services that are available. The Teaching & Learning section will assist with Course Conference migration. Research, Non-Academic or Administrative Conference alternatives are listed in the Conference Migration section. If your use of FirstClass was for File Sharing & Storage, File Sharing and Management is now available using OISE HomeSpace.
3. Don't Lose your Personal Website: Transfer your html files.
If you have some html files for a personal web site, you can publish these on HomeSpace (Faculty/Staff) or UTORweb (Students). See information on Personal Webspace.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What has happened to FirstClass after August 1st 2010?
A: FirstClass / OISEnet is no longer available as an active e-Communication service as of August 1, 2010. Export/Download availability of the data (conferences, inbox, files) will remain available to users for until August of 2011. You will only be able to access the First Class content to save as a local file to your computer; no e-mail communication, forwarding or new file upload will be available. This access will be available for reference purposes only until FirstClass is fully decommissioned later this year.
Q: Is my @OISE.UTORONTO.CA e-mail address still working?
A: Faculty and Staff - Yes!
Students - No.
All Faculty and Staff with existing @oise.utoronto.ca e-mail addresses will be supported indefinitely. If you had completed the E-mail Profile Confirmation Form, all email addressed to your @oise address will be re-routed to the @utoronto address that was specified. If you are not receiving email sent to your @oise address, check your UTORid forwarding settings or contact the CCP for assistance.
New Faculty and Staff will be issued standard utoronto.ca email addresses only.
Students will not retain their @oise address after August 1st 2010. If you are not receiving email sent to your @utoronto.ca UTORmail account, check your UTORid forwarding settings.
E-mail Download (download or save a copy of your messages)
Most Faculty and Staff completed their personal e-mail migration in 2009, while many in the ITE program migrated in the spring of 2010. All Students are now expected to use their @utoronto.ca UTORmail account for e-mail activities.
