The Computer Labs and drop-in Tech Lounge are open and accessible to the entire OISE Community.  If your class is being held in our facilities, please check the reservation schedules posted outside each lab for your class location.

External users: Note that labs are not available on a walk-in basis; please book a teaching lab using the Lab Bookings Form.

Facilities

The Education Commons operates the following computing facilities:

Labs 1-2, 4-6 & Mini Data Analysis Lab: Windows XP

Specs: Dell OptiPlex, Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E4600 (2.4GHz, 2M, 800MHz FSB), 2GB RAM, 160GB Hard Drive, 19" UltraSharp Widescreen Flat Panel monitor, 16x DVD-RW optical drive.

Lab 3: Mac OSX

Specs: Apple iMac, 20-inch, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive, SuperDrive.

All labs are equipped with data projectors, teacher stations and whiteboards.

Printing

Printing is available in our labs, but you must have a TCard with sufficient value stored on it. A card reader attached to the print release station will debit the print job cost from your TCard at the time of printing. Transparency films may not be used in the printers. We cannot provide refunds for printing credits. 
 

Emergency Procedures

Power Outages

Remain calm.
Gather all belongings
Exit lab on request of Help Desk staff.
You will automatically be logged out of the console at which you are working.
The labs will reopen upon power resumption.
Do not use the elevators.

Fire Alarms

Remain calm.
Gather all belongings.
Exit lab, following the directions of Help Desk staff.
Leave the floor and exit the building.
Return only when informed it is safe to do so.
Do not use the elevators.

First Aid Emergencies

Immediately inform Help Desk staff in 3-320.
If they are unavailable, call Security Desk at 416-978-3636 (dial 9 for internal use), or the Campus Police at 416-978-2222.
For serious emergencies, call (9) 911.
Offer to assist Help Desk staff as a bystander (i.e. crowd control, victim reassurance); however, wait for certified personnel to assist the victim.
