Getting your TCard - Visit the TCard office at Robarts Library
OISE students who attend classes on campus will first need to obtain a TCard before getting their UTORid. Your TCard is a photo ID smartcard which provides identification for academic purposes, student activities and services, facility access and also acts as your Library Card.
To get your TCard, go to the TCard Office located in Room 2054A on the second floor of Robarts Library at the corner of St. George and Harbord. For TCard Office hours and required identification documentation, visit the TCard web site.
OISE Students who have previously attended UofT but do not have a UTORid should visit the TCard office and bring their previous Library ID card or TCard. The TCard office will issue you a new TCard as well as a UTORid and Secret Activation Key.

But what if I am a Distance Education Student Off-Campus?
Students studying at a distance can obtain their UTORid without first getting a TCard. Students are entitled to this service if they are 80 km or more from OISE and do not visit the campus. If you did not receive your UTORid information as part your program registration or course enrolment and require assistance, please contact Patricia Serafini by email or telephone at (416) 978-1903.
Getting your UTORid setup with your Secret Activation Key
OISE students will receive your UTORid and a Secret Activation Key along with their TCard.
To activate your UTORid account:
- Browse to the ‘activate’ link on the main UTORid web site.
- Enter your UTORid and Secret Activation Key.
Important Points to Remember About Your UTORid Account
- UTORid accounts take at least 24 business hours to become active.
- You can check or modify your account settings from the UTORID web site.
Setting up a UTmail+ Account
When you are activating your UTORid, you will be asked to set up a UTORmail e-mail address (@mail.utoronto.ca). It is important to setup this address.
Remember to record your UTORmail e-mail address in ROSI - the university will only send official communications to a university-issued e-mail address.
If you do not have your @utoronto.ca email address entered in your ROSI profile, please login to ROSI and click Edit in the Current Email Address section to update.
Insuring Against Forgotten Passwords
You will be prompted to set up the forgotten password utility, which entails providing answers to three memory-based questions. If you forget your password in the future, you can return to the UTORID Management page and reset your forgotten password.
