Environmental and Sustainability Education

Welcome to OISE's
Sustainability & Climate Action Network

SCAN provides the OISE community, TDSB educators and many others with an introduction to educational concepts and practices to address the climate crisis.  We facilitate educational programming, research and advocacy to support education's role in sustainability and climate action in the GTA and beyond.

SCAN has a new website, which will be officially launched in early September. It's got a new design and lots of new info for students, faculty, staff and K-12 educators! You can get a sneak peek at the site here - this ESE site will be discontinued once the new site is fully up and running. Bookmark the new URL for easy reference.

OISE's Sustainability & Climate Action Plan
We've finished the first year of implementing OISE's plan - how has this helped to 'change the climate' at OISE? Watch the video of a recent webinar that reports on its progress.

First Grant from the Sustainability Fund!
And the first grant to support sustainability projects at OISE goes to...the Natural Curiosity project, an OISE team dedicated to helping educators learn about Indigenous perspectives in children's environmental inquiry.

Missed the Fall 2021 ESE Conference?
This year’s TDSB/OISE EcoSchools conference on Nov. 6th and focused on encouraging K-12 educators to renew their courage and commitment to engaging their students in learning about climate change and sustainability. Access the recordings here.
