Title: Newspaper and Its Integrative Function

Grade: 6-12

Description of Idea:
“Have children collect newspaper articles about events that occur in other
parts of the country or the world. Ask them to discuss the probable effects of these events on their own lives. The rationale is : the ability to see relationships is an important part of language. As children discover concepts like interdependency, they are preparing themselves to appreciate the universal qualities evidenced in great literature as well as social studies”.
This lesson plan is a great way for students to be aware of issues that are going on in the world and how these issues affect the peoples lives that are involved. The teacher can provide parts of the world to research and to find issues that are going on in that country
