Title: Making Art with Writing
Description of Idea:
*This lesson plan is a creative way for students to understand how words can be turned into imagery. The teacher selects various poems and reads them to the class and has the students read the poems as well.
*The teacher discusses with the students what the poet is describing and what aspects of the poem can be represented visually. After the discussion takes place students can choose a poem from those read to the class, and create a visual interpretation about the poem.
*This activity allows students’ to use their imagination, to be creative, and allows them to realize that art can be abstract and that words can take on different meaning when presented in a visual form.
