OISE & Woodsworth students and alumnae work together to raise $4500 for Japan earthquake and tsunami relief
On March 31st, students, staff, and alumnae from OISE and Woodsworth College co-organized an event, held at Kruger Hall, to raise money for Japan earthquake and tsunami relief. We heard from speakers from the Japanese Consulate, the Canadian Red Cross, and Kristin Kobayashi, a Japanese Canadian who was in Tokyo at the time of the earthquake. The event was rounded out with brilliant performances and a silent auction. $1500 was raised from the event, plus generous contributions from the Woodsworth Students Association ($2500) and the Julia O'Sullivan, the Dean of OISE
($500). Proceeds were split between the Japanese Red Cross and Ashinaga, an educational organization that provides support to orphaned children in Japan. Many thanks to all those who made this event such a great success, including OISE graduate student DAVID GOLDBERG and former OISE student and current Dean of Students at Woodsworth, JOSEPHINE MULLALLY.
Most importantly, we wish the people of Japan a speedy and robust recovery!

Save HISTORY and PHILOSOPHY at OISE!
The University of Toronto School of Graduate Studies and OISE have agreed to suspend admissions to the PhD program in History and Philosophy of Education based on a recommendation by the Ontario Council of Graduate Studies. The GSA executive and Council have expressed serious concern about this move and commends the hard work being done by students in the Theory and Policy Studies department to resist this situation.
