Glen presented a paper at a conference entitled "Policy Formation in Post-secondary Education: Issues and Prospects in Turbulent Times" sponsored by the Faculty of Education at York University on March 15-17 at the Novotel Toronto North York. Glen gave a keynote address at the conference entitled "Academic Governance 3.0: What could it be? How do we get there?" sponsored by the Confederation of University Faculty Associations of British Columbia on March 9-10 at the SFU Harbour Centre Campus in Vancouver. Glen was a member of a panel on "Mobilizing Knowledge on Higher Education" at the Symposium of Ontario Research Chairs in Public Policy hosted by York University on March 5th and 6th in Toronto. The slides for his presentation can be found here.
Increasing Engagement in University Governance

Glen gave the keynote address at the annual meeting of the Council of Ontario University Secretaries in Ottawa, March 1-2, 2012. The conference was hosted by Carleton University and the University of Ottawa. His slides for the presentation are here.
Three new Campuses for Ontario: A Symposium on Options, Challenges and Possibilities

We organized a full-day symposium focusing on the Government of Ontario's committment to build three new campuses in Ontario, the needed for these campuses, and the form that these new campuses might take. Students With Learning Disabilities

We have just released a report written by Lydia Boyko and Elyse K. Chaplin entitled "Students With Learning Disabilities: Access to Higher education in Canada. A Review of the Literature." This is a major review of research on an extremely important topic in higher education. The report should be of particular interest to individuals working in student affairs, government, and higher education research.

Glen Jones presented a paper on "The Horizontal and Vertical Fragmentation of Academic Work: The Academic Profession in Canada" at the Changing Academic Profession symposium that took place at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China.

HIgher Education, Globalization and Social Justice

Bryan Gopaul presented a paper at the Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education's conference on Higher Education, Globalization and Social Justice on November 3 and 4. The paper, written by Bryan, Julian Weinrib, and Glen Jones reports on Canadian faculty perspections of teaching and research from the Changing Academic Profession survey data.
Open and Distance Education

Mary Catharine Lennon and Glen Jones have been working on a policy issues paper on open and distance education in Ontario. Glen was a member of the organizing committee for the inaugeral Worldviews Conference on Media and Education. Glen Jones joined a panel of leading thinkers and experts from North and South America, Europe, Australasia, Africa and other areas of the developing world to discuss pressing media concerns. Glen Jones with Julia Eastman (University of Victoria) and Claude Trottier (Laval University) were granted funding for their 2011 - 2014 Standard Research Grant awarded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, $127,400.00.

Glen Jones was a member of a three-person team reviewing governance issues at Concordia University. The University is implementing many of the recommendations that emerged from the review.
