Financial Assistance  Jackman ICS is committed to needs-based financial support that will both enable increased  diversity and retain current laboratory school families. Five forms of tuition assistance    options support these goals through the Diana Rankin/Muncaster Family Support Fund. The  Tuition Support Committee is working to actively expand economic diversity at Jackman ICS.  This committee is made up of the Principal, Vice-Principal, two current parents, four alumni  parents, and one external member (the Director of Admissions at UTS).  Although our funds  available limit our ability to respond to every request, we are pleased that in 2011-2012,  12% of the current students are receiving some form of financial assistance.

Support for Economic Diversity
This tuition support for new families provides financial assistance for students who could not otherwise consider enrolling at Jackman ICS. Application for funding support for economic diversity is through an arms-length, confidential application to Apple Financial Services and assessment by a sub-committee at Jackman ICS. Forms are available on the Apple Financial site.

Support Possibilities for Current Jackman ICS Families

Support to Retain Current Families
This tuition support is available for current students entering Grades 3-6 who could not otherwise consider staying at Jackman ICS. The expected range of support is $1000-$4000 per student with the possibility of multi-year renewal. Application and assessment of financial need is made through an arms-length, confidential application to Apple Financial Services, and decisions are made by a sub-committee at Jackman ICS (which does not include any current parents). Apple Financial has instituted an online process of application. The instructions are below and applications are due to Apple Financial by November 15, 2012. Should you have any questions regarding the financial information required in the application please contact Apple Financial at 416-730-9900. Please note that if you applied to Apple Financial last year and received tuition support from the school, you will need to apply again every year to renew your request and your information.

The link for applying families is <http://www.applefinancialservices.ca>, and the process is as follows:

1. Families create a parent account registration.
2. After the e-mail address provided is verified a response will be sent “account set up.”
3. The family then goes into the online application, which follows the format of prior year’s applications in terms of information requested.
4. At the end of the process, a request will appear for the uploading of tax information, i.e. T4’s, current year’s pay statements, etc.
5. Once the information is uploaded a payment section will appear where payment could be made by credit card.

Notification of financial assistance decisions will be made by letter from Jackman ICS by March 2013.

Support for Changed Financial Circumstances
This fund provides one-time support for current families whose changed financial circumstances may jeopardize, in the short term, their ability to keep their children enrolled at Jackman ICS.  Application for this type of support should be submitted to the principal. Please write a letter of request with an explanation of the change in financial circumstances. These letters are due on April 30, 2013, for consideration for the 2013-2014 school year. Notification will be made by letter in May 2013.  As well, some funds are available throughout the year for extenuating situations. Expected range: $1000-$2000 per student.

Support for Current Family Enrolment Fee
This fund provides support to current Jackman ICS families who may experience financial difficulty bringing younger siblings to the laboratory school due to the enrollment fee introduced in Fall 2009. This applies only to children born before September 1, 2009. Application for this type of support should be submitted through the principal on forms which are available through Elizabeth Morley. These forms are due by November 15, 2012.

Additional Financial Support
Several additional types of financial support have been introduced to provide needs-based financial assistance for school trips and extra expenses, educational assessments, tutoring, and unforeseen costs. Application for this type of support should be submitted through the principal.

Families who would be new to Jackman ICS in September 2013 and are entering Grades 5 and 6 may apply through Apple Financial, should they require tuition assistance.
