If you would like to become a certified teacher in only one year, you should explore what the University of Toronto has to offer.  Our program leads to a  recommendation for teacher certification which is widely respected around the world.

Return home after only one year, as a Canadian qualified teacher with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Toronto!

About the Consecutive Bachelor of Education Program

The Consecutive Bachelor of Education is a professional program taken in order to be eligible to become certified to teach in elementary or secondary schools. Our program is specifically structured to meet the requirements of the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) (the licensing authority for teachers in Ontario). Upon successful completion of the program, students are recommended to the OCT to receive the teaching Certificate of Qualification and Registration. OCT certification indicates that teachers have met the standards for acceptance into Ontario’s teaching profession and possess the academic and experience credentials expected of teachers in our publicly funded schools.

The Consecutive Bachelor of Education is a one-year second-entry professional program. The completion of a prior university Bachelor’s degree (four years or equivalent in duration) with an average in the "B" range is required for admission. See below for more about the complete admission requirements.
