The Learning Consortium at OISE
The Learning Consortium at OISE has been in existence since 1988. The consortium comprises OISE and Boards of Education within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Currently, The Learning Consortium is partnering with the Toronto Catholic and Toronto District School Boards. From time to time, membership is open to other districts and partners, given the nature of a particular initiative or project.
Mandate
The purpose of The Learning Consortium is to create a community of inquiry that is focused on the ultimate goal of improved student achievement through exemplary instruction and assessment practices and enhanced leadership capacity. A range of joint initiatives and projects focuses on educational priorities determined by the consortium partners.
Specifically the consortium:
- contributes to the knowledge base of consortium members and the greater educational community through discussion and dissemination of findings of respective projects and initiatives;
- leverages district and university relationships to explore and secure external funding for a variety of research and professional development projects; and,
- conducts research and program evaluations to create position papers designed to impact provincial policy.
Ultimately, the goal of all Learning Consortium projects is to encourage connections among our district partners and OISE that lead to improved student achievement.
