Using Assessment Data for Improving Teaching Practice
Professor Helen Timperley, University of Auckland, is one of the top people in the world in the area of teacher learning and professional development, especially linked to improving student outcomes. She was the lead author of the very important “Best Evidence Synthesis on Teacher Professional Learning and Development”, published by the New Zealand Ministry of Education in 2007 (and available online). She also has strong commitments on equity issues related to student outcomes.

A Documentary of Homelessness in Toronto
Short Film and Discussion with Tanis Desjarlais
The 20 minute film On My Way takes a raw and honest look at the issues and barriers homeless people face in the Greater Toronto Area. The film allows participants to voice their opinions about these barriers and brings awareness to the issue of survival on the streets of Toronto.
Tanis Desjarlais is a Cree/Assinaboine woman from Kawacatoose First Nations. She moved to Toronto from Regina at the age of eleven and is an active member of the local arts community, ranging from performing arts to documentary filmmaking. She has articles and photography published in the magazine NDN Uncensored.
