This master’s degree program is designed for teachers and administrators to extend their knowledge and understanding of leadership in schools with a focus on student success. It is planned with the support of leaders in the Peel District School Board as an opportunity to foster growth of its staff as life-long learners. The program centers on the study and development of policy, leadership, change, and social diversity and is linked to the Peel District School Board’s Strategy Map that highlights student success, school success planning, school improvement, and the achievement of equity.
The Program consists of 10 courses (7 scheduled especially for Peel and 3 open electives)

Fall 2012: TPS1041 Educational Administration II, in Peel
Winter 2013: TPS 1040 Educational Administration 1, in Peel
Spring 2013: TPS1004 Research Literacy, in Peel
Summer 2013: Elective, at OISE
Fall 2013: TPS1042 Leadership and Diversity, in Peel
Winter 2014: TPS1029 Student Engagement, in Peel
Summer 2014: Elective, at OISE
Fall 2014: TPS1048 Leadership and School Improvement, in Peel
Winter 2015: Elective, at OISE
Spring 2015: TPS1050 Themes and Issues in Educational Administration, in Peel
Key Features
- The degree is offered by the Educational Administration Program housed in the Department of Theory and Policy Studies in Education at OISE/UT
- Classroom discussions will be linked to work in the Peel District School Board
- The program will focus on school success planning, school improvement and effective use of resources, and the achievement of equity and social justice
- No major research paper or thesis
- There are 7 required courses and 3 electives
- All required courses will be taught at UTM campus in a cohort format
- It is expected that the participants in this program will all start at the same time (fall 2012), take 7 required courses in Peel, and complete the program together
- Electives are to be chosen individually and taken at OISE/UT in downtown Toronto

Principal Qualification Program at OISE
Effective January 2011, OISE M.Ed. students who have successfully completed their PQP programs from OISE may use these as electives TPS 1060 and/or TPS 1061.
• Students wishing to pursue this optional route to fulfill one of the program requirements will be required to obtain the approval of Dr. Blair Mascall, Program Coordinator for Educational Administration.
• Admission into the Principal Qualification Program is separate from the graduate program and is contingent upon the approval of to the Director, Continuing Education unit.
