Welcome to the Master of Teaching Program
For information on how to apply please visit our Application Process page.
Note: The deadline for applications for the Master of Teaching Program for Primary/Junior and Junior/Intermediate sections is now closed. We are still accepting applications for Intermediate/Senior Division of our program and the deadline has been extended for this division. We will be advising you of the closing date at least one week prior to closing.
Our Review Process: Following closing dates all applications are reviewed by the Registrar's Office. The Faculty in the Master of Teaching Program review all applications and rank them in January and February. Applicants we select for interviews will be advised of either a phone or in person interview once we have processed all of the applications. Note: not all applicants will be interviewed. However, everyone will be advised of final decisions for admission to the program by the first week of April of 2012.
The Master of Teaching program is one of the premier teacher education programs at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. This program combines a Master of Teaching degree with elementary or secondary teacher certification. Our program is suited for those who want to pursue a career in teaching combined with graduate study that may lead to a doctoral program. Students will choose one of three program specializations: Primary/Junior, Junior/Intermediate or Intermediate/Senior.
Why take a two year program? Additional time to:
- study a range of educational issues
- develop as a teacher
- acquire teaching strategies
- deepen knowledge of curriculum
- work in classrooms
- conduct research
- and qualify for doctoral studies
Be part of a professional community while you study to be a teacher and obtain a master’s level degree.
