
Cathy Marks Krpan
Faculty
Dr. Marks Krpan teaches courses in the area of elementary mathematics, science and assessment courses in the graduate program and the Elementary Initial Teacher Education Program at OISE. She is currently serving as program coordinator of an elementary initial teacher education field-based cohort.
Professor Marks Krpan's primary research interests focus on how to support the development of student communication skills in mathematics. Dr Marks Krpan has completed research on the development of critical thinking through graphic organizers and she is currently exploring how to assist learners with special needs in mathematics through effective teaching strategies in classroom contexts.
Dr Marks Krpan has written numerous award-winning story-based math readers which assist children in learning mathematical concepts. Her book, The Write Math, has been used as a resource in school districts across Canada.
