
Patrick Finnessy
B.A. M.Ed., Ph.D
Instructor
Dr. Patrick Finnessy teaches across the CTL department. He is
currently teaching in the B.Ed., Concurrent, and MT programs as well
as instructs other graduate courses. In the MT program he is teaching
CTL 7009H: Anti-discriminatory Education.
His other graduate-level courses include: Gender Equity in the
Classroom; Introduction to Qualitative Inquiry; Language, Culture, and
Identity; and The Construction of Professional Knowledge. In the
B.Ed. pre-service teacher education program he teaches School and
Society and Social Foundations of Teaching & Schooling.
Dr. Finnessy's research interests are in the intersections of school
curriculum, identity, and sexuality.
He is currently authoring Teaching Out: Constructing an LGBT Education. His
recent publications include:

Dr. Finnessy is a former high school and university administrator, a
current member of the Ontario College of Teachers, the Executive
