
Dr. Rob Simon
Assistant Professor
Dr. Simon teaches in both the pre-service teacher education and graduate programs in CTL. In the MT program, he teaches Curriculum and Teaching in English – Intermediate/Senior. In the spring term, he will be teaching a graduate course on multiliteracies in education.
This is Dr. Simon’s first year at OISE/UT. Previously, he was on faculty at the University of Pennsylvania, where he had a joint appointment in the Teacher Education Program and the Program in Reading/Writing/Literacy. He taught literacy courses for doctoral and pre-service teacher education students, as well as graduate courses in practitioner research, theories of reading, and research on writing and the teaching of writing.
Dr. Simon’s research interests are in the areas of new literacy studies, urban education, teacher education, and practitioner research. He recently completed a several year study of the collaborative inquiries of a community of English teachers.
