Appeals
Mandate
The Appeals Committee establishes policies and procedures with respect to appeals by students in connection with the application of academic rules and regulations by offices of the Faculty or by instructors in connection with marks or grades.
Membership
The Appeals Committee's elected membership includes a Chair elected from among the Committee members, six faculty, two instructors, and two Initial Teacher Education students. The term of membership for elected members is two years. The Dean (or designate), the Registrar, a Registrar's Office staff member, and the Secretary of Faculty Council are all ex-officio members of the Committee.
2010-2012 Appeals Committee Membership
Meetings
The Appeals Committee normally meets to hear and consider appeals from students as they arise. The Committee meetings are always held in camera. Although the By-Laws state that a quorum of one-half of the voting members is required for meetings of Standing Committees, the practice of the Appeals Committee is to have the full membership in attendance.
Records
The records of Appeals Committee meetings are maintained by the Secretary of Faculty Council and are not publicly available.
