The Process
Formal discussions on a potential OISE departmental structure began when Dean O’Sullivan asked the program coordinators of both graduate and Initial Teacher Education programs to meet with their colleagues and “blue sky” on a departmental structure that would support the guiding principles.
She then brought together all the program coordinators, department chairs and associate deans to consider the models suggested for OISE.
A number of interesting models emerged from these discussions that ranged from four departments to a program-based model with no departments.
It was agreed that OISE will retain a department-based structure and that two holistic models will be presented to the OISE Community for consideration.
