Ann Lopez
Ann Lopez is a Lecturer in the Department of Leadership, Higher and Adult Education (LHAE). After spending time in banking in Jamaica and Canada, Ann followed her life-long passion to become an educator. She completed her undergraduate degree (Economics and Geography) at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus in Kingston, Jamaica and her B.Ed. at the Faculty of Education, University of Toronto. She completed her M.Ed. at Brock University and her PhD in Curriculum Studies at OISE. Ann was seconded in 2008 to OISE after fifteen years as a secondary classroom teacher, department head and vice principal with the Peel District School Board. In 2011, she was appointed as a Lecturer in LHAE. Throughout her time at OISE Ann has been an instructor, program and cohort coordinator, course lead and lecturer in the Consecutive and Concurrent teacher education programs. She coordinated OISE’s teacher education outreach program “Future Teachers” and OISE/Peel Masters cohort in Educational Administration offered in LHAE. Ann’s research focuses issues of equity and diversity in the classroom, school leadership and administration and examines the impact of culturally responsive pedagogy in diverse classrooms, tensions teachers experience in the implementation of inclusive practices, collaborative mentorship, teacher leadership and critical approaches to teacher education. Ann has presented her research at conferences in Canada, the United States and the Caribbean. Her research has also been published in peer reviewed journals.
