2008 CHANCELLOR'S AWARD: Andre Tremblay, Centre Coordinator in the Centre de recherches en éducation franco-ontarienne (CREFO), has been named winner of a 2008 Chancellor's Award. Part of the Awards of Excellence program, the Chancellor's Award recognizes and honours outstanding contributions to the U of T experience by a staff member....More

 

ROLE MODELS FOR EQUITY AND DIVERSITY
Two OISE community members are among 13 recipients of 2008 Harry Jerome awards. Faculty member Njoki Wane of Sociology and Equity Studies, who joined the department in 1998, was recognized for her work in anti-racism activism and diversity relations. Her particular research interests include African indigenous knowledges and Black Canadian feminisms.

 

Sociology and Equity Studies alumnus Dr. Chris Spence (MEd '93; EdD '96), has been Director of the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board since 2004. Widely recognized for contributions to boys' literacy and student centered programs, Dr. Spence is a renowned educator and dedicated community advocate.

 

Named for Olympic medalist Harry Jerome, the awards honour similar role models who are effecting change in the community. Winners will be honoured April 26 at a gala dinner in Toronto...More

2008  RESEARCH CELEBRATION
On Tuesday, April 8 more than 400 people gathered at OISE to celebrate faculty and student research. Among those attending were 8 faculty members whose research on the issues that matter in education was featured. This year student researchers Patsy Sutherland, Geoff Soloway, Ranya Khan, Andrea Regina, Ana Laura Pauchulo, Amanda-Mae Cooper and Rose Fine-Meyer were featured.
