NEWS: Carol Rolheiser to lead Office of Teaching Advancement
The Provost's announcement of Ken Bartlett's reappointment as Director of the Office of Teaching Advancement for 18 more months was followed by the great news that Carol Rolheiser will serve as Director for a 5-year term, from July 1, 2009 until June 30, 2014. Carol, currently OISE's Associate Dean, Teacher Education, has been recognized for her career-long commitment to teaching excellence, receiving several major external awards, and also is a recipient of the President's Teaching Award...More
ISSUES THAT MATTER: School SafetyThe Toronto District School Board released its Final Report on School Safety yesterday. The report, commissioned after the shooting death of high school student Jordan Manners at C.W. Jefferys Collegiate last May, contains more than 100 recommendations to improve safety. Julian Falconer, head of the panel that produced the report, says TDSB is woefully underfunded to manage its diverse student populations, citing cutbacks to supports for at-risk students.
