ISSUES THAT MATTER: Second language learning
Esther Geva addresses the question "What's so special about learning to read in a second language?" in a cross-country lecture tour in May, sponsored by the Minerva Lecture Series, which is a travelling, national forum designed to share the work of prominent Canadian learning researchers with Canadians from all walks of life. Each lecture is recorded and posted on the Minerva website, and a papers prepared by the lecturers will be published in a special issue of Journal of Applied Research on Learning early next summer.

EVENT: Diversity-themed conference inspires grad students
OISE graduate students pariticipated in their very own annual  conference, Diverse Perspectives in Education on Friday February 29 & Saturday March 1 at the 8th Annual Dean's Graduate Student Research Conference. Featured keynote speaker Fazal Rizvi of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, talked about about Research Ethics and Transnational Spaces.

TVO UPDATE: OISE Alum Finney Cherian Best Lecturer Top-Ten
OISE grad Dr. Finney Cherian is a finalist in TVO's Best Lecturer competition for 2008. He completed his BEd, MEd and PhD at FEUT/OISE/UT and is now a faculty member in the Faculty of Education, University of Windsor.
