EYE OF THE HURRICANE: MY PATH FROM DARKNESS TO FREEDOM

WITH RUBIN “HURRICANE” CARTER


Book Launch and Public Lecture

TORONTO, ON – Rubin “Hurricane” Carter - former professional middleweight champion boxer and a member of the New Jersey Hall of Fame - will speak at a public lecture and book launch hosted by the Centre for Urban Schooling at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto and A Different Booklist.

Dr. Carter’s newest book Eye of the Hurricane: My Path from Darkness to Freedom tells the story of his spiritual journey during his 20-year wrongful imprisonment in Rahway Prison (New Jersey) for multiple murders. This is his second book and was co-written by Ken Klonsky.

Dr. Carter is also the author of The 16th Round, which he wrote in 1974 while in prison and is his vital take on the ills of American society and the prison "reform" system. Rubin also wrote the screenplay for Hurricane, the Norman Jewison movie starring Denzel Washington and nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture
