Team OISE repeats win in Harry’s Spring Run-Off
April 19, 2011

Team OISE raced to victory on Saturday, April 2, in Toronto’s High Park in the 33rd annual Harry’s Spring Run-Off. More than twenty faculty, staff and student members of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education participated in the team category and secured a repeat win, by just three minutes, this year.
Danny Cavanagh, a two-year Team OISE member and staff member in the department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning spoke about the effort of the OISE team in this race: “This year’s race marked another superb effort by Team OISE, led by Captain Gary Pluim who placed 4th in a field of 2,000 runners. This is a tremendous accomplishment. Congratulations to all the runners.”
Harry’s Spring Run-Off is named for Harry Rosen, a leading Canadian retailer in men’s fashion, and is Toronto’s oldest continuously-held road race. The event featured runners, walkers, spectators, volunteers, fundraisers, costumed runners, sponsors – all dedicated to raising funds for prostate cancer research at Princess Margaret Hospital.
At the awards ceremony Team OISE received $100 gift certificates for Harry Rosen's that were shared among the competitors. As part of an annual tradition, Team OISE met for brunch at Future Bakery following the run.
