OISE launches e-newsletter to 20,000 alumni worldwide
April 21, 2011
OISE's first electronic newsletter for its alumni was sent to more than 20,000 people worldwide this morning. The goal of the e-newsletter is to facilitate conversations between OISE and its alumni by providing more points of contact, updates, and increasing alumni engagement. There are more than 70,000 OISE alumni worldwide, many of whom already connect online through social media groups on Facebook, Twitter, Linked IN and YouTube. The new e-newsletter now supports and contributes to that cyber dialogue.
OISE’s Director of Advancement, Holland Hendrix, spoke about the importance of this publication: “This is an important step in reconnecting with OISE alumni. We will strengthen the OISE family by bringing OISE together with more alumni online and by sharing details of alumni programs that have real value to both of them. The links to social media sites enhance how we communicate with our graduates, and as our alumni grow, we will communicate more news and more stories to more people, more quickly.”
The publication will provide regular updates from OISE and Dean Julia O'Sullivan, and also provides a vehicle for the OISE Alumni Association to communicate with its members. The e-newsletter will feature timely and interesting information about upcoming events such as the University of Toronto’s Spring Reunion, The Jackson Lecture, and many more. The e-newsletter will also include content sections featuring: alumni in the news, awards and distinctions as well as remembrances and tributes to lost colleagues, classmates and friends. Links to social media websites as well as to the Alumni and Friends and OISE websites will help alumni to engage in conversations with each other, sharing news, achievements, events and milestones. They can also learn more about special OISE and U of T programs and opportunities.
