May 4, 2011

By Jennifer Sipos-Smith

This Friday, May 6, a day-long symposium in honour of Professor Ruth Hayhoe’s lifelong focus on higher education in China, exploration of cultural influence on higher education and contributions to comparative education thought will directly follow the 55th Annual CIES Conference in Montreal, Canada.

The conference, Education and Global Cultural Dialogue, features eleven discussion panels focused on issues and themes related to Ruth Hayhoe's body of work.  View the conference program for more information and details about the conference and panel presentations.  Ruth Hayhoe will speak at the event.

In her honour, Ruth Hayhoe's former students and colleagues have created the: Ruth Hayhoe Xu Meide Scholarship.  It will support OISE graduate students pursuing Sinological or China related research.  The award is described as "a fitting tribute for an individual who has made a profound contribution to the study and research of comparative and international higher education."
