OISE alumni head back to school for Spring Reunion 2011

On Saturday, May 28, the OISE Alumni Association welcomed its alumni back to school for its annual Spring Reunion Brunch. The event brought together alumni from varied years, honouring those in particular who graduated in years that end in a “6” or a “1.”

As OISE's first major alumni event of the year, the brunch was deemed a success on many levels.  Alumni in attendance represented diverse stakeholder groups including education organizations, and came from around the world.

OISE Alumni Association President Sema Kenan was very pleased.  "Spring Reunion was a great success: the Dean’s visit inspired everyone and helped to build on the feelings of reconnection and appreciation of OISE."

Special guest and distinguished alumnus Dr. Christopher Spence, the director of education for the Toronto District School Board, presented a talk entitled “What Will It Take?” and discussed, among other topics, success models for teaching.

Another highlight of the event was a new session in which alumni had the opportunity to brush up on their networking skills. Each attendee was given a set of networking questions and tips that facilitate interaction and help people to connect more meaningfully.  An Alumni Leaders Series event and remarks by Dean Julia O'Sullivan were also highlights of the event.

Alumni photographers helped capture the excitement of this year's event, recording all the activities in photographs which can be viewed on the OISE Alumni Association's photo-sharing website on Flickr: Spring Reunion Brunch 2011.
